Architectural Ceiling and Wall Lighting Systems

Twelve ways to put light in the ceiling plane instead of on it. We bend the profiles, print the membrane, and install the finished surface ourselves.

Most integrated lighting arrives as a product. A tile, a panel, a module in a fixed size, and the ceiling gets drawn around it. We work the other way around. The lit surface is fabricated for the room. Any outline, curved or flat, ceiling or wall, up to the seam limits of the membrane. Our aluminum profiles are bent on our own CNC in Dania Beach, so the shape on the reflected ceiling plan is the shape that gets built. There is no module grid to design around and no standard size to compromise to.

That changes what a ceiling can do. One surface can be printed and backlit at the same time. It can be acoustic and lit at once, using micro perforated CLIPSO fabric where the perforation is invisible from the floor. A single plane can carry a recessed light line, a perimeter cove, a star field and a tunable white field, in one finish, from one drawing set, installed by one crew. The twelve systems below are how we categorize the work. Most real projects combine two or three of them. If you want to see it before you commit, we build a physical mockup first.

Why it works

Light built into the surface, not fixed to it

The shape is drawn, not selected

The membrane is cut for the room and the aluminum is bent on our own CNC in Dania Beach. Any outline, curved or flat, ceiling or wall, up to the seam limits of the membrane. No module grid to design around, and no standard size to compromise to.

One surface, more than one job

A single plane can be printed and backlit at once, or acoustic and lit at once. The same plane can carry a recessed light line, a perimeter cove, a star field and a tunable white field, in one finish and from one drawing set.

We draw it, bend it, print it and install it. Ten years on the membrane and three years on the LED and electrical, from the people who built it. And we will build a physical mockup of your actual detail before anyone signs.

Voltage
24V constant voltage
Everything above the membrane, from driver to LED, is low voltage.
Color temperature
2700K to 6500K
Fixed at 2700K, 3000K, 3500K, 4000K, 5000K or 6500K. Tunable white runs 2700K to 6500K. RGBW where the design calls for color, with a dedicated white channel so the ceiling still reads as a real white ceiling when the color is off.
Control
0-10V, DALI-2, DMX
Wireless control where it is specified. Tunable white is a preference setting on the control system. We make no health, wellness or circadian claim for it.
Driver access
An accessible location, agreed at design stage
A closet, above a cabinet, or behind an access hatch. Decide this at design stage, not at rough-in. We mark it on the drawing.
Membrane
Roughly 8 mil PVC nominal
7 to 10 mil depending on finish. Gloss, matte, satin, translucent and mirror.
CLIPSO fabric
Knit polyester and PU, about 230 g/m2
Clipped in cold and dry, seamless up to 16 ft 8 in. The acoustic version passes sound through a micro perforation that is invisible in the finished surface, not a visible hole pattern.
Light transmission
42.0% diffused
Translucent membrane, 42.0% diffused. Transparent membrane, 70.5%, which we do not use for backlit work because the diodes read through. Measured at Poznan University of Technology, method per CIE 130-1998. This is a test report, not a certificate.
Surface burning characteristics
ASTM E84, tested per finish
Gloss FSI 5 / SDI 300, matte FSI 10 / SDI 300, satin FSI 15 / SDI 250 (flame spread / smoke developed). White specimens. The laboratory assigned no classification. The specimens were membrane only, not mounted as a finished ceiling assembly. Not permitted in return air plenums on the data we hold. If the space above the membrane is a return air plenum, tell us early and we will design the cavity around it.

What we can send a specifier today

Two test reports we hold and can hand over now. The surface burning data is reported per finish and the laboratory assigned no classification, and we repeat that qualification everywhere the numbers appear.

Membrane light transmission test report

42.0% diffused for the translucent membrane, 70.5% for the transparent one. Measured at Poznan University of Technology, method per CIE 130-1998. Use the 42% figure for backlit work. The transparent membrane does not hide the diodes. This is a test report, not a certificate, and it covers total transmission only.

ASTM E84 surface burning characteristics, per finish

White specimens. Gloss FSI 5 / SDI 300. Matte FSI 10 / SDI 300. Satin FSI 15 / SDI 250 (flame spread / smoke developed). The laboratory assigned no classification. The specimens were membrane only, not mounted as a finished ceiling assembly and not mounted per ASTM E2573. Not permitted in return air plenums on the data we hold. If the space above the membrane is a return air plenum, tell us early and we will design the cavity around it.

Where both documents live

Both reports sit in the lighting section of our downloads library, next to the profile drawings for AP-301, AP-302, AP-305, AP-306, AP-307, AP-212, AP-213 and AP-216 and the AP-213 Revit family. Going through the library means you get the current revision instead of a file somebody saved last year, and we see what your project needed. If your submittal calls for something that is not in there, ask and we will tell you the same day whether we hold it.

What we do not hold

Named precisely, so you can check it against your specification section now instead of finding out at submittal.

Photometry
No LM-79, LM-80 or TM-21 data. No IES files
We hold no LM-79 test report and no LM-80 or TM-21 lifetime data, and we publish no IES file for the finished assembly. We can forward the LED manufacturer’s own published data for the strip specified on your project, and we will name the exact product on your submittal so you can check it against the source. We will not model a file and call it tested.
Color rendering
No CRI measured on the finished assembly
We specify strips rated CRI 90 and above by their manufacturer, and we name the exact product on your submittal so you can check it against the source.
Acoustic performance
No ASTM C423 test. No NRC value
We hold no ASTM C423 absorption test and publish no NRC value for the acoustic build. What we can send now is the fabric construction, the weight, and the micro perforation description. For a number on your own room, ask for a mockup.
Fire testing beyond ASTM E84
No NFPA 701, NFPA 286, NFPA 265 or ASTM E2573
What we do hold is the ASTM E84 per finish data, stated exactly as the laboratory reported it, including the fact that the laboratory assigned no classification. Read it before you write the specification.
Plenum use
No UL 2043 plenum rating
Not permitted in return air plenums on the data we hold. If the space above the membrane is a return air plenum, tell us early and we will design the cavity around it.
Approvals
No Florida Product Approval. No Miami-Dade NOA
Not held for this assembly. We will tell you so in writing rather than point you at somebody else’s approval number.
Environmental documentation
No GREENGUARD, EPD or HPD
In preparation. Ask us and we will send the material composition we can substantiate today.
Controls compatibility
No published compatibility matrix
